Rolls-Royce has announced plans to make an all-electric Phantom called the 102EX.
The car is a one-off project to be unveiled March 1 at the Geneva Motor Show. After the show it’ll tour the world as a tester to see whether an electric drivetrain might be feasible for the Rolls-Royce brand, both in terms of functionality and in terms of consumer perception.
“It is the company’s intention to carefully test the opinions and reactions to alternative drivetrain options of a range of stakeholders including owners, enthusiasts, members of the public and the media,” a press release said.
Rolls has started a website, www.electricluxury.com, to promote the car, though it says it has no plans to produce a production version.
